Welcome to Lilly's Valley Resort
Lilly's Valley Resort, the very first resort to be built in Kodaikanal, was begun in 1982 by Mr. Raj A. Sukumar. He was born in the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, India. After traveling all over South India, Europe and North America in the 1970s, he took up Canadian citizenship. During this period he happened to visit Kodaikanal and felt the place resembled places in England he had seen! Falling in love with the area, he purchased three beautiful acres. He ringed them with eucalyptus trees rather than a concrete wall, and started building the hotel. Later he married an American, Nina, and they have two beautiful children. The family divides its time between New York and Kodaikanal.
Lilly's Valley is a uniquely beautiful resort set amid terraced gardens on three acres of wooded land, ringed by towering eucalyptus trees. It is the keeper of the old Kodaikanal tradition : its 21 traditional stone cottages are constructed in the colonial British style, with handcrafted woodwork details throughout. It is the rare resort with an eco-focus and no concrete structures. Even the furniture is lovingly made by hand by talented craftsmen!
